What is Bruxism and what causes it?
Bruxism, commonly known as tooth grinding or clenching, is a condition often unnoticed but can have significant impacts on your oral health. It’s a phenomenon where you unconsciously grind or clench your teeth, potentially leading to a range of dental issues. This condition can occur both during wakefulness and sleep, with nighttime bruxism being more prevalent and often harder to detect.
Why it Happens
The exact causes of bruxism can be as varied as its effects. While stress and anxiety are frequently linked to this condition, other factors such as misaligned teeth, abnormal bites, or lifestyle habits like excessive caffeine intake and alcohol consumption also play significant roles. Moreover, bruxism can be a symptom of deeper underlying health issues, including certain sleep disorders.

Spotting the Signs
Understanding the signs of bruxism is crucial for timely intervention. Common indicators include:
- Jaw soreness or pain, especially in the mornings
- Unexplained tooth sensitivity or damage
- Headaches originating around the temples
- Audible grinding sounds at night, often noticed by a partner

There are no words to say how impressed I am and so very grateful to Roger James that rushed me as soon as possible to his colleague Dr murray, that very day.
I am a very nervous person when my teeth are involved, and having a large extraction especially very very worrying.
My experience on Wednesday was utterly incredible. I did not feel a thing, and I felt Dr murray was such a perfectionist with making sure ALL the Infection was gone, I cannot tell you all how relieved I felt.
I have booked my next appointment for Roger to discuss my future plans. My way forward is an implant and I trust this practice implicitly. Thank you all for making me feel safe and most of all pain free.
I needed a further extraction and was dismayed when my dentist advised he had moved, having had, for the first time in my life, a completely painless extraction some two years ago. She kindly said that if he was on their list for referrals, then she would refer me.
Fortunately for me he was, and today was a further masterclass in his art with a second pain free treatment, Mr Murray, Sir, you are a true professional in every sense, and a guy at the very top of your game. May I thoroughly commend your services to all, and I thank you and your team sincerely.

Temporomandibular disorder (TMD) is a prevalent condition that affects the jaw joint and surrounding muscles, leading to symptoms such as headaches, jaw pain, and difficulty in fully opening the mouth. Even celebrities are not immune to this ailment.
For instance, broadcaster Zoe Ball recently disclosed her struggle with TMD, mentioning that it causes her to wake up with “awful headaches” due to jaw clenching. Her openness highlights that TMD can impact anyone, regardless of their public status, and underscores the importance of seeking appropriate treatment for relief.
